If you have children in Sweden, Swedish quickly appears in messages from preschool, school, fritids, healthcare, activities, and other parents. You may need to report absence, ask about lunch, understand schedules, respond to teachers, or talk about how your child is doing.

You do not need advanced Swedish to communicate clearly. A small set of reliable phrases helps you handle most routine situations.

Swedish schools often spend time outside, so clothing words are useful:

Practice changing the child’s name, day, time, and reason. This teaches you the structure and gives you ready language for real situations. If you receive a long message from school, first look for dates, times, things to bring, and whether you need to answer.
